Well, it is that time of year, Spring Cleaning is here! The weather in Louisiana has been warm and rainy but that warm breeze has given me the motivation to start cleaning. This year spring cleaning means more to me after the year that we have all had. I am excited to usher out all that old feeling. I know it might not seem very exciting but it will give you a sense of satisfaction once you get it done.

All you need to do is create a list and this way you don’t get overwhelming with everything you want to accomplish. This year I have teamed up with Libman to bring you some of their tips. The Libman Company is the leading U.S. marker of household and commercial cleaning products.

Deep cleaning is a great way to pass the time, get a workout in, and have a cleaner, healthier home!

1. Schedule time
Our schedules are full and our to-do list continues to grow. It’s no surprise that spring cleaning often gets pushed back when other things pop up in our lives. Make an appointment with yourself to clean. It can be for an entire day or in hourly intervals but be sure to block out time solely dedicated to cleaning. Keep this time like you would an appointment for the doctor or dentist.

2. Make a Cleaning List
Write down all of the areas and tasks you’d like to tackle during your spring cleaning initiative. If you feel overwhelmed listing them all at once, you can keep the list on the refrigerator and add to it whenever you come across an area you’d like to clean.

3. Stock Up on Supplies
Using your list as a reference, make sure you have all the tools and cleaners needed to accomplish your list. Stocking up on supplies ahead of time will allow you to keep the cleaning momentum during your cleaning time without having to break for quick trips to the store when you’re out of something.

4. Declutter Before Cleaning

 5. Follow Through
When your self-scheduled cleaning appointment arrives, it’s easy to convince yourself you can do it another time. Don’t – spend that allotted time cleaning and get it done. Once clean, you’ll feel better and realize all your prep made it the easiest spring cleaning yet.

6. Clean task by task
Instead of cleaning room-by-room, tackle your new home task-by-task. This method ends up being considerably quicker. Think about it – when you have equipped yourself with a sponge and soapy water, it’s much easier to just continue on than set it down and pick something else up. Five Spring Cleaning Hacks

Spring is one of the key cleaning seasons for most Americans who use the time to reorganize, clean, and refresh their homes and outdoor areas after a long winter. Most people’s spring cleaning tasks go beyond their typical daily or weekly cleaning chores for a deeper clean. I have some hacks to help make the most of your spring cleaning time and resources.

Hack #1 – Ceiling Fans

Use a damp cloth or wet pillowcase to wipe ceiling fans that have accumulated cobwebs and dust during the winter. If you’re unable to reach the blades this way, try using a Libman Microfiber Duster that has a seven-foot extension pole for hard-to-reach places.

Hack #2 – Chandelier and Ceiling Fan Lights

Take the glass light bulb covers off ceiling fans and chandeliers and stick them in the dishwasher. They come out sparkling clean, and it’s less work for your tired hands.

Hack #3 – Area Rugs

Take area rugs outside on a dry day and beat them with a broom to remove dirt, lint, and debris. Spray the rugs outside with a carpet deodorizer to refresh them and let them air dry. After bringing them back inside, vacuum rugs thoroughly.

Hack #4 – Linens and Curtains

It’s a good idea to freshen up pillows, blankets, comforters, and even curtains as they have likely accumulated dust and odors. For a quick refresh, gather and hang linens and curtains outside on a clothesline. Spray a fabric deodorizer and let the items air dry outside. For a deeper clean, you may want to throw them into the washing machine if the tag indicates it’s safe to do so.

Hack #5 – Walls

Spring cleaning is made easier if you fill your sink with 1 cup of ammonia to approximately one gallon of water. Dip in your very clean Libman Nitty Gritty Roller Mop, remove all excess solution, and then mop your walls. This removes cigarette smoke stains, natural gas film, and even propane stains with ease. No rinsing is required if you keep the mop dry enough.

These are all great tips that I’ll personally be putting to use over the next few weeks.
