To say this has been a crazy year is an understatement. It has been a challenge after challenge. One thing that I have learned during this time is that taking a little extra time to be organized will help you feel calmer and center; as we try and navigate working from home, distance learning, and just living.
I was so happy to find Made Terra to help me with all of my organizational needs. I also love that they are doing good in the world. Made Terra’s goal is to bring local, authentic, ethically-sourced artisan made products at the most competitive and the highest quality. Their vision is to put people and the planet first. Every purchase you make with them impacts the life and community of its makers in Vietnam. These hand-crafted pieces are made to last and will help you keep organized and look brighten your home décor in the process.
When organizing your home or just a room, it is a good idea to make a plan first of how you would like it to look. When I was working in my home office, I know I needed space for my laptop but needed access to my files. I first needed to declutter the area. Go through the area and remove items that you have no longer used or don’t wish to keep. You can donate these items to local charities. Also, make sure to get rid of expired, damaged. or stained items. This is also a great way to teach kids that they can donate toys to needy children.
You then need to come up with an organizational system for your items. How do you want to categorize your items? When I was organizing my closets I did it by color. You may want to do it by season, here in Louisiana we really don’t have four seasons, so color made more sense to me. This is a great way to use under bed storage organizers and wicker baskets to hold your sweaters and t-shirts.
While you don’t want to fill your home or room with clutter, you can still maximize the space in different rooms. You can use a belly basket that sits in the corner for blankets. I loved the baskets that are on wheels that way I can have them in each room to collect clothes and roll them into the laundry room. When you maximize space you find that things are easier to find. I am not running around trying to find something.
Use labels for everything including shelving and organization. Labels can be used for individual baskets of toys, tools, or toiletries. Mabel’s Labels have been my go-to for years for the labels that I need for my home.
Finally, it is important that you choose baskets that are going to last for more than a month, that is why I love Made Terra, it has held up extremely well the past couple of months. Take your time and find the right baskets for your home, such as wicker or rattan baskets.
Whether you are choosing an under bed storage organizer or storage baskets for shelves, it is important to come up with an organizational system that works for your family.
