Becca Thorpe has uprooted her life and escaped to the beach. Now’s her chance to get away from city living, throw caution to the ocean winds, and live in the moment. Especially if the moment includes the deliciously sexy surfer she meets shortly after arriving in Lucky Harbor. Something about the dark intensity of Sam’s eyes and the thrill she gets at his touch convinces her to stay awhile.
Boatbuilder and investment genius Sam Brody is a self-made man who knows how dangerous it can be to mix business and pleasure. But he can’t resist offering Becca a job just to hear her laugh and have her near. Yet when her brother comes to town asking for help, will he tempt her back to her glamorous life in the city? Or do Sam and little Lucky Harbor have a chance to win Becca’s heart?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jill Shalvis lives in a small town in the Sierras full of quirky characters. Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is, um, mostly coincidental. Look for Jill’s sexy contemporary and award-winning books wherever romances are sold. This book was so much fun to read. It came at a time when I was looking to find a distraction and this book was the perfect way for me to escape. I had not read any of Jill Shalvis’s books before. I found out that this was her tenth Lucky Harbor novel, and I love to read books by authors that I have never read.
Once I started it I found that I could not put it down. Becca is the central charter and she is doing her best to start over in her life in Lucky Harbor a world away from the life she use to lead. I found that I could related to Becca in trying to start my life over and having things in my life that might be holding me back. What we find in Becca is a smart, funny and a character that we are rooting for to find what she needs.
Then their is Sam the main male character in the book and she labels him Sexy Grumpy Surfer. He is a guy filled with secrets of his own but in his own way he shows everyone around him that he cares.
He and Becca both have things in their pasts that they have to learn to face and it is interesting watching them struggle to find their way to each other and deal with the past. This makes them a perfect fit for one another. Of course, they have to face challenges in their road to love, but it is great to see how they get through them
This book is part of a trilogy, and I can’t wait to read the next two books. During the holidays, you need a break so pick up this book and get lost in it. You will get some peaceful time.

Growing up going to college was a big thing in my household, and when you have kids you realize how time flies by and suddenly you are faced with the questions about preparing them for college, school visits, tests, and how to pay for it all.
As parents we play critical role in helping children prepare, plan, and pay for college. Parents can find the support they need via the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, http://hsf.net/en/resources/parents/, which includes the information they need to guide their children through the application and enrollment process and also to ensure they have the financial resources needed to graduate.
Did you know that Hispanics account for 19% of all college students, ages 18-24? That’s a major increase, up from 12% in 2008. What’s more, 69% of Hispanic graduates are now going directly to college after graduating high school, a rate that is higher than that of the general population.
But the surge in Hispanic college-bound students presents a greater need for more information about college and financial support. As all parents that have college bound students can attest, navigating the application process can be daunting.
When the time comes to deal with this it can sometimes be intimidating and if you are not familiar with the educational system, preparation and proper procedure you can find yourself being overwhelmed. Do not let your fear stop you from taking advantage of the opportunities that are available.
