I was very excited to attend this event and get to learn more about these new revolutionary sponges. I was not sure what to expect but I got a great education of the household sponge and what we need to do everyday. I got a chance to meet the creators and listen to what they had in mind when they created this sponge.
Skura Style is taking the everyday kitchen sponge to new heights with a design-forward, groundbreaking innovation poised to disrupt an industry that hasn’t changed in decades.
Noticing that in clean, well-designed homes furnished with modern advancements in every corner of the kitchen, one product stood out to founders and lifelong friends Linda Sawyer and Alison Adler Matz as unattractive, out of place, smelly and disgusting. As they embarked on a re-design to improve the look of the standard kitchen sponge, they were surprised to find traditional sponge materials held so much room for improvement as well.
Skura Style is made of a patented foam material with a premium, non-abrasive scouring coating and treated with an antimicrobial agent to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. Thanks to a design inspired by Scandinavian sensibility, it looks better on the counter, too.
The word “skura” is Swedish for “to scour” or “to scrub,” and Skura Style offers the first line of thoughtfully-designed sponges that perform better, staying fresh and odor resistant while looking great. Designed by renowned Swedish designer John-Michael Ekeblad, the contemporary and simple design of Skura Style embodies a clean, happy sensibility.
Made in the U.S.A., Skura Style features a highly-absorbent and durable foam that has excellent wipe-dry performance and dries quickly, remains virtually odor free and maintains its shape after drying. The scouring surface features a premium, non-abrasive coating that does not trap food particles and rinses clean, unlike the common kitchen sponge which food (especially eggs and cheese) clings to. Both the foam and coating of the sponge is treated with an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew.
Skura Style is highly durable, yet is safe on a wide range of kitchen surfaces, from ceramic plates and glassware to porcelain and stainless-steel sinks, and from laminates to chrome. It will not scratch pans, pots or utensils with non-stick coated surfaces.
Sold as a four-pack in orange, blue, grey and green in a re-sealable bag, Skura Style sponges feature modern grey foam with an unmistakable monogram logo on the coating. State-of-the-art printing on the coating gives Skura Style rich colors and patterns. Due to the fade-to-change technology, the monogram logo serves as an indicator that the sponge should be replaced as it fades with use.
Replacing sponges regularly is part of what Skura Style considers to be good sponge etiquette, the brand is pioneering a new way to make replacement and repurchase easy with the first-ever online subscription service for sponges.
Skura Style offers two subscription plan options depending upon household cleaning routines, and one four-pack is $12.00. For the daily user, the Live to Scrub subscription plan provides one four-pack every month, for weekly sponge replacement. More occasional users can change their sponge every other week with the Love to Scrub plan, which delivers one four-pack every other month.
Skura Style is a lifestyle brand and the sponges are the first product to market.
