It is the holidays, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or another holiday, American Girl dolls, clothing and accessories are always a big hit. American Girl has so many wonderful things to fit any child in your life.
Earlier this year, American Girl wanted to honor front line heroes. The popular doll line asked kids across the country to nominate an outstanding hero in their life as part of its “Heroes with Heart” contest, which was designed to thank and honor the individuals who have risked their lives during the pandemic.
The winners received a one-of-a-kind, custom-made American Girl doll and outfit in their hero’s likeness to gift the honoree.
The American Girl dolls honor April, a paramedic; Xavier, a grocery store worker who has asthma; Pam, a teacher; Sarah, a nurse assistant, and Laurent, a pilot who flew, voluntarily, a team of doctors to Haiti to help Covid-19 patients.
While these dolls are truly one of a kind (they are not available for purchase), you can learn more about the Heroes with Heart contest on the American Girl website.
I love all the American Girl collections, but the one that stands out to me is the Truly Me collection. It gives girls the opportunity to explore and discover their own unique styles and interests. This line allows you to create a one-of-a-kind friend through a variety of personalized doll options, including different combinations of eye color, hair color and style, and skin color, as well as an array of outfits and accessories. The line now includes boy dolls. This is just one collection that you select a holiday gift from.
Have you gotten the newest American Girl doll yet? Courtney Moore is from California in 1986 and loves video games so much, she dreams of making her own one! Explore Courtney’s world with her Totally Rad Collection, which contains the Courtney doll and outfits for a neat experience!
As for the doll. I love everything about her, from her 80’s fashion to her accessories. The doll rocks a denim skirt, crop top, neon leggings, and faux leather boots along with a side pony and scrunchie. You can get a doll-sized caboodle as well as a cassette player and tape.
The Courtney collection includes a huge variety of 80’s items, including a doll-sized Pac-Man arcade. Courtney’s story is told through two historical fiction books written by Kellen Hertz, and just like the doll, it is packed with pop culture references. Her story is also told through a short 25-movie on Youtube Kids called, “Meet Courtney: An American Girl Movie.”
Every year, there are American Girl holiday dresses and pajamas. This years’ is the All That Glitters Dress, Festive Formal Outfit, and Peace, Love, and Joy Pajamas. You can also get matching pajamas and dresses so you and your doll can look alike!
Their holiday mix-and-match collection this year is called the Snow Fancy Collection, and it contains many cute choices for your dolls to wear this winter. These also make great stocking stuffers, as many of the pieces range from $10-$15 and can fit in stockings.
Still don’t know what to get? How about an American Girl gift card? You can get an e-card as well, which makes a good option for relatives that can’t visit this year due to the pandemic. Gift cards also are good for waiting for the new Girl of the Year, or even making a doll on the Create Your Own doll maker!
