Joanne Cronrath Bamberger has compiled a series of women-authored essays about Hillary Clinton that range from the great ones to thoughtfully critical ones. These are not written from a political analyses, but from a spectrum of American women voters on what Clinton’s election might mean to women.
The book shows that people are interested in her as a candidate, not just a player in American politics. The women who shared their thoughts in this book love her, or don’t but they are willing to give serious thought to her as a candidate and person outside the controversy, rumors, and hype. Some of these writers have personal experiences with Hillary, others have been following her career for years and have real insights about her as a potential president.
I think this book is also important because Hillary Clinton may become the first woman President of the United States of America. The mere fact that she’s a woman shouldn’t have an impact on how we judge her capabilities, anymore than we should a male candidate. It allows to consider how this will affect us in history. We need to look and re-evaluate the criterial that we use to judge her readiness for the office.
