After a stormy week in the South, the temperatures have dropped. We are in the ’50s and that is cold for me now, when I have been so used to the 80s.

When the weather turns cooler a pair of great slippers is everything to me. I have hardwood floors that are great looking, and easy to clean but they really can make your feet get cold. I am always on the hunt for house slippers. When the calendar says winter, they are something I live. My feet are always freezing unless they are bundled up.

Merriam-Webster defines grief as a deep sadness caused especially by someone’s death. This is a simple definition but their is so much more to grief. You can go through the stages of grief, you can talk about it and it is still not enough to fill the missing voids.

Over the years I have chronicled the loss of my parents, younger sister, and best friend. During these years, I have held tight to the pictures and videos that I have with them, I have kept their belongings, but it never seems to be enough. Recently, I was introduced to Patchwork Bear.

When I received the bear in the mail, I was so touched by the detail in the stitching and I could tell that love and care were put into it. I now have a piece of my parents and sister with me at all times.
