If you are like me you lead a very busy life; between work, family and other activities including dealing with the weather, we are constantly on the go. Not only are we on the go, but we are also attached to our electronics, our phones, computers, ipads and other devices have become attached to us. We make commitments to exercise more, spend time with the family, and eat healthy, but in doing all these things we maybe neglecting an important aspect of our lives SLEEP.
Thanks to Mom It Forward I was lucky enough to attend P&G’s launch of it’s New Sweet Dreams Collection. The launch coincides with the National Sleep Foundation’s Awareness Week. P&G has also teamed up with celebrity physician and wellness expert Dr. Ian Smith and lifestyle expert Jeannette Kaplun. Both of whom attended the launch party and spoke about the importance of sleep and how it can actually begin in the laundry room with the use of the Sweet Dreams Collection.
Dr. Ian Smith stated that 41% of Americans don’t get a good night’s sleep. A large number of these being women. At the end of the day it is hard to unwind and turn off your mind at the end of the day. Dr. Smith went on to state that the biggest issues doctors see in their patients who have trouble falling asleep is that they bring their electronics with them into bed. He recommends that you turn off your electronics at least 30 minutes before bedtime. He also wants us to transform our bedrooms into the ideal sleep area. First by have the walls in a color of blue, this helps to promote calm and reduce stress. He also stated that washing our linens and pajamas in the Sweet Dreams Collection. This new collection is infused with lavender and essential oil that promotes relaxation. Did you know that you should wash your linens every six days?
Daylight Light Savings Time will be next month and we will be getting an extra hour of sunlight but this also causes problems with our sleep patterns. P&G wants all to take the “Tuck In. Turn Off” Pledge. This aims to encourage people to turn off their technology at least 30 minutes before bedtime and tuck in to clean fabrics infused with the soothing scent and softness of the Sweet Dreams Collection. The pledge can be taken online and I encourage everyone to visit www.TuckInTurnOff.com.
