Marvel Studios’ first female-lead cinematic blockbuster, Captain Marvel, hits theaters this today, and Citizen Watch Co. is releasing the collection’s watches to coincide with the movie’s release.
The watches, unveiled at a special Citizen-sponsored premiere of Captain Marvel in Los Angeles all feature gold-colored detailing and the distinctive star emblem of the uniform worn by the title character, played by actress Brie Larsen, in the film. Like most Citizen watches, including the first wave of Marvel timepieces dedicated to the comics-based entertainment company’s male superstars, including Spider-Man, Captain America, and Black Panther, all three of the Captain Marvel pieces contain Citizen Eco-Drive movements, whose batteries are powered by light and thus do not require changing.
The trio of watches, all of which have round steel cases, includes a 37-mm model on a navy blue silicone strap, sporting a silvered dial with gold accents and hour numerals, a gold Captain Marvel star logo at 9 o’clock, a date window at 3 o’clock, and a red central seconds hand (red, navy and gold being the primary colors in the heroine’s uniform). A second variation, also with a 37-mm case and on a stainless steel bracelet, has a navy-colored dial, gold hands, gold indices alternating with Swarovski crystal markers at the hour positions, and the star logo in gold at the center. The third model is on a gold-tone metal mesh bracelet and has a matching gold-plated 40-mm case, and features a blue dial with a tone-on-tone star print pattern underpinning the gold detailing, including the hands, indices and Citizen logo.
One model is presented with a silver dial and navy silicone strap embellished with gold and red accents on the hand and markers. Complete with the Captain Marvel emblem on the dial.
Another model is presented with a rich navy dial featuring a transparent star print pattern and Captain Marvel’s classic gold logo star in the center. Featured on a gold-tone mesh bracelet.
The third model is offered on a stainless-steel bracelet with navy dial and the iconic gold logo star detailing as well. All timepieces are finished with the bold Captain Marvel logo on the case back.
