It’s that time of year when the evenings start to get darker earlier on and the colder weather starts to draw in. It’s the season of pumpkins and Christmas trees, so it’s time to cancel any social plans and have a movie night with your loved one. Here are five tips for a cozy movie night with your partner.
Pick out a movie ahead of time
First and foremost, make sure you’ve got a movie picked out ahead of time. There’s nothing more time-consuming than picking out a movie, especially when you happen to like different genres. It’s important to find a compromise so that you can enjoy the film together, rather than just being one person who is enjoying it.
With that being said, consider picking out a movie ahead of time so that it’s ready for when you’re on the couch, wanting to press play. Whether it’s a classic from this list of Christmas movies or it’s a new one you’ve not seen before,
Think about cooking a themed meal
If it’s a particular movie that you’re watching, whereby there’s a theme to it, perhaps you could think about cooking a themed meal. For example, if it’s Harry Potter, you might want to seek some inspiration from classic dishes served in the film.
You’re likely to find something within the movie that you can mimic whether it’s a delicious meal or an unusual one. It’s a great way to start off the evening and to get you in the mood for the movie itself.
Set the mood with low-lighting
To help get the vibes going for your cozy movie night, make sure you’ve set the mood with low lighting. Low lighting is ideal for when you’re having a movie night. There’s nothing worse than having your main lights on and having glare on the television screen.
Think about low lighting like fairy lights and candles, rather than putting on any ceiling lights. Table lamps might be a good in-between too but try to keep it as low as possible when it comes to lighting choices.
Prep some snacks for the evening
Snacks are a great option to have when it comes to your evening. There’s nothing better than having a mixture of snacks to graze on as you make your way through the movie. Chances are, the snacks will be finished before the first 10 minutes of the movie are underway. However, that’s no surprise for many!
Prepping the snacks is important because you want all of the movie staples, whether that’s chocolate to popcorn, slushie drinks to fizzy ones.
Make sure you have plenty of throws or a duvet available
Finally, and most importantly, make sure you have plenty of throws to hand or a big fluffy duvet to get lost under and curled up in with your partner.
A date night with your partner doesn’t need to be much, especially when it comes to making it meaningful. Spending the night together over a good movie, some tasty snacks, and perhaps a cheeky tipple or two is a wonderful way to enjoy an evening in.
