As you grow up, you slowly learn that it’s OK to let things go. As a kid, or even as a teenager and into your 20s, life still feels insecure and unstable. Even with the best family and friends around you, it’s very easy to believe that you have to hold on to things even when they don’t serve you anymore. As you grow and your goals change and what forms a success for your changes, you might find that the best thing that you can do is to let go of things. It’s OK to move on, and anybody will tell you this if you ask somebody who’s seasoned enough in life to know that.
When you’re in your 20s, letting go and moving on from things can be unsettling and confusing. At work, if you are fired, it can be not easy to let go of the fact that you had a job that you loved and now your boss doesn’t want you. A great example of moving on is Jonathan Martin NFL, who set goals and smashed them while learning to immerse himself in the joy of transition. It’s OK that you are stepping forward and moving on to other things in life because life has so much more to offer you than what you are holding on to right now. Let’s take a look at some of the best reasons that it is fine for you to step back and say enough.
- You can’t live in your history. There is so much that your history can teach you, but you can learn from it rather than living it. You can’t stay in a place that no longer serves you? But if you haven’t learned that by now, you might find it a struggle to catch on to that idea. In fact, you’ll probably find that most people want you to stay in a place where that no longer serves you, because instead it serves them.
- You will be stuck. If you try not to move on, and you try to live somewhere that has served you for years but no longer does, you are going to be stuck in that moment. You’re not going to be able to let go and move forward because you will forever be thinking about what you could be doing rather than what you should be doing. It’s OK to let go of jobs and people and places in your life that don’t make you feel good. You just have to be OK with letting that happen.It does. It takes some time to learn, but once you get there, you’ll always feel grateful for the lesson.
- Life is far too short to stay still. When you’re complaining about all of the little problems, you have to consider the fact that life is too short to have those problems in the first place. Instead, you need to make sure that you are pushing forward and letting go of things that don’t serve you, so that you can make your life feel easier and better. Suddenly, someday there’ll be no more minutes to waste.
- It’s a form of self abuse to hold on to that pain. If something is hurting you, then you need to say enough now and let it go. You don’t need to feel that pain, and you certainly don’t need to inflict it on yourself by hanging on to something that’s hurting you.
