As is tradition, this can feel like the longest week of the year, and it begins with Monday’s Opening Night.
This is the night that the players and coaches make their first public appearance in the building. That was the case on Monday, February 3, 2025. It is a night filled with questions and answers. The media grilled the players on everything from their health to what they were looking forward to doing while being in New Orleans. Players were also asked about their favorite foods, colors and Kendrick Lamar songs.
Opening night kicked off at the Ceasars Superdome in New Orleans. The Eagles took the field first and did their photo and interview session. The Chiefs would take the stage after.
The Eagles Saquon Barkley got his first taste of the event. Barkley was not part of the team when they went to the Super Bowl two years ago. Barkley talked about his decision to bring his family to Philadelphia in order to get an opportunity to play in a Super Bowl.
The Chiefs have been here five times in the past six years. They are chasing history, aiming to become the first NFL team to three-peat in the Super Bowl era. The Eagles are seeking their second Lombardi trophy.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce spoke about Taylor Swift pop-tarts and stated that he hoped to match her energy on stage when he is on the field.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was asked about picking NBA players for a mock football team.
Both teams arrived on Sunday and every player and coach was available to the media on Monday night.
With opening night under their belts, the teams will focus on preparation. Both teams will attempt to hold normal practices in a week that will not be routine.
The goal of this week is to stay focused, avoid any distractions, keep all players injury free, and keep your eye on the prize. It should be an interesting week in the Big Easy.
Awesome read and great pictures. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top Sunday!
