On February 14-17, the annual Toy Fair was held in New York. Every year leading Toy manufacturers and retailers meet in New York City for four days of toy filled fun. The annual Toy Fair is not a trade show and is not open to the public but I got to attend as part of the Press. I love attending and giving you some of the insight on what you will be seeing in 2015.
I arrived at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan on Saturday February 14th, at 10:00 am, an hour after the fair started. What a way to spend Valentine’s Day. There was already a sea of people browsing the two stories of exhibits as I made my way to the registration line to grab my badge. After I got my badge, I headed to the games area of the hall to check it out before I started the meetings for the day.
I had many meetings scheduled throughout the day to take care of the nitty gritty business of bringing games to the public. After talking forecasting, logistics, marketing, and distribution, I sat down to enjoy some of the fun. The next few days were filled with meetings with toy makers as I wanted to know what they wanted me to tell my readers about.
Some of the big trends of this year will be dinosaurs, robs and high tech and smart toys. This is not surprising with the release of Jurassic Park and how kids and more into technology this will be the highlight of the year.
I am happy to be able to bring you a series on some of the Toy Companies and what they will be bringing to you. Please look for the beginning of the series soon. Hopefully this will get you ready for all the year.
It was awesome attending and I can’t wait until next year.
