Preparing this oatmeal was a breeze. The package offers two options: Pouring boiling water into the cup and letting it sit for 3 minutes or preparing it in the microwave. I opted for the recommended boiling water option. I initially thought that the cherries were coated with some sort of glaze due to their coated appearance when first opening the package, but this was not the case. There were ample amounts of cherries, pistachios, and almonds but it wasn’t overbearing. The oatmeal alone tasted a bit bland to me (I prefer eating Apples & Cinnamon or Maple varieties), but when making sure cherries where on each bite the blandness wasn’t noticeable. This is likely just a personal taste observation so it doesn’t take away from the quality of this product. Although the cup is not full (a note on the cup explains that the cup is larger to ensure there is no chance of boiling over or spillage when preparing or stirring) you don’t feel like you have been deprived of product. This serving size is quite filling….the inclusion of cherries and the nuts definitely add to this effect. For those calorie conscious consumers you will be glad to know that this cup is only 290 calories with only 70 calories coming from fat.
Overall, I would definitely purchase this product on my own. I would like to see what other flavors they offer though. Although I didn’t dislike this particular flavor I think I would prefer one that may have more flavor to the most important part…the oatmeal!
