I am a big fan of traditional thermometers. I have been since it was the one that my mom always used to check and see if I had a fever. When I went to CE this year, I got to speak to the representatives of the new Braun No-Touch Thermometer and I really wanted to test it out myself.
As soon as I received my Braun No-Touch Thermometer I had to put it through test to see if it would be accurate and safe for children. I was just a bit worried that a forehead thermometer would not be able to give the same reading as my traditional thermometer. I worry when anyone is sick and I always need the extra security. When you have a fever you want to make sure that you are getting accurate readings so that you can see when medication is not working or when you have to go to the doctor.
Since I have been using my old thermometer for years and I trusted it I figured I would take the temperature with both the old thermometer and the Braun No-Touch Forehead thermometer to determine if it was accurate and easy to use.
My thermometer is the standard oral thermometer. It take temperature in about 10 seconds. The Braun No-Touch Forehead Thermometer says it will takes an accurate reading in 2 seconds, from up to 2 inches away from the forehead using an innovative optical system to catch twice as much radiated as other forehead thermometers. The Braun thermometer also has a proximity sensor to let you know when you are too far away from the forehead for an accurate result.
I tested the thermometer on myself multiple times over the last few days, as I have been sick. Each time both thermometers displayed similar results, but the Braun thermometer did it in much less time.
The biggest feature here is the No-Touch ability. You place the thermometer on silent mode and go into a room. When you turn on the thermometer the display will read “FWD:. Gently move the thermometer forward until it is you are within 2 inches of your forehead. Once it is close enough the thermometer automatically takes the temperature and displays it on the backlit screen. In silent mode there is no beep at the end and since you never touch you can sleep undisturbed. The display is also color coded and lights up green when there is no fever, yellow when there is an elevated temperature and red when there is a fever, making it easier to read. I love that I can use it multiple people at the same time, without having to sterilize it, because it s level of accuracy and ease of use.
At this point, I am ready to toss by old oral thermometer and face cold and season with my Braun No-Touch Forehead thermometer knowing I’ll never have to struggle to keep a thermometer steady. With back to school season right here, this is an essential for you medicine cabinet.
