Disclosure: We were given swimming lessons courtesy of Momtrends, SwimToday; however, all opinions expressed here are mine.
I did not learn to swim until a few years ago, growing up in Brooklyn we did not have a lot of places to go and learn to swim. I was always jealous that my older sister learned when she was young and was such a strong swimmer.
Thanks to Momtrends and SwimToday my child got to enjoy swim lessons. Momtrends held an event with 5 time Olympian Dara Torres and SwimToday to talk about why swimming is so important. Swimming is not only important because it is great exercise and the sport that you are least likely to get hurt it, but it also helps kids prepare if something should happen. Every hear we hear about kids falling into pools and not knowing what to do. If they learn at early age how to swim, they will not panic if they fall into the pool, but their instincts will kick in and they will begin to kick and swim. Given you time to get to them.
As part of this program, we were given a bathing suit, backpack, googles and swim cap. At the end of the program we will get a certificate of completion signed by Dara Torre. It will be an accomplishment we can look back on proudly.
SwimToday worked with us to make sure we got the right place for our lessons and when we could go. SwimToday ambassador Dara Torres, a five-time Olympic swimmer turned swim mom and 13 industry partners are united in an effort to show non-swimmers and their parents why swimming is the #FunnestSport.
Through SwimToday, teams nationwide are inviting new swimmers and families to experience the sport with incentives such as free swim team trial times, customized swim caps and promotional swim kits. Parents can lean more about participating teams and find those closest to them by search their zip code at
