CUJO is a smart firewall for the connected home, designed to bring business-level security to the home network. This one device will secure all devices connecting to the WiFi router. CUJO detects and blocks malicious sites, viruses, and hacks. Think of it like antivirus for your entire network. Plus, CUJO lets you control what your kids access online and keep them safe.
I want my home to be a safe environment for kids to be able to be online. Everyone want to surf the net, but I know there are bad things out there. CUJO is a device that gives me peace of mind as a device that can create a safe space for the kids.
Before receiving this device I had been looking at a number of devices that can create such a firewall and the prices varied to devices that were as expensive as $500-$1000 not including monthly/yearly fees that would make them even more expensive. CUJO is a great alternative in this way as the device can be purchased for about $250 and that includes all hardware and lifetime support which was an amazing opportunity.
When I received this I found that the device was easily set up. Once you plug this in the instructions were very self-explanatory and I was able to get it set up in only a few minutes. I did not have any issues with setup and after I set it up I found that speed was the same and there was no interruptions in service.
Once I had it set up CUJO was able to identify the devices connected into the network. Once the devices were identified you could pull down description in the app that allow you to know which devices are connected. You see, CUJO has a database of device types, brands, and model numbers which can be manually edited, which was used to classify devices. You can then group your devices for categorization purposes if you so choose.
CUJO detects unauthorized devices on my network as well which is a nice touch. When you identify devices that are not supposed to be on the network you can disconnect the device from the internet in case the device somehow joins my wireless network again.
CUJO offers you a Threat Alert that will run in the background while you are on devices on your home network. Threat Alerts are flagged when you go to a site that is known to be a threat. CUJO will block browser pop-ups on certain sites because of this service.
CUJO also offers access controls which allows you to create a user profile and assign devices to that profile. After you have set up profiles you can apply several web filters including blocking ads or other specific content. For example, I could block any pornography from my daughters’ devices if I wanted. I tried this and found that on sites that violated the filter, CUJO puts a bright orange webpage blocking access to the webpage.
