Hang around school-age girls with any device connected to the internet and you’ll discover their preferred way to catch up on the latest trends is YouTube, where they subscribe to multiple channels about dance, fashion, makeup, and other topics. The videos are all original content from social media celebrities you’ve probably never heard of.
Among the most popular YouTubers — with a new video out every Wednesday at 4 p.m.— are twin sisters Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight, 18. The social media sensations who just graduated from Collin County’s Lovejoy High School in Lucas are soon-to-be Baylor University freshman, where they plan to major in entrepreneurship.
The twins have more than 5.5 million YouTube followers, plus 3.3 million on Instagram, and that has drawn the attention of J.C. Penney. JCPenney has teamed up with YouTube stars and entrepreneurs, Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight, to create a custom Arizona backpack, exclusively sold at JCPenney.
The Arizona collection is rooted in being an individual and #AZYouAre, so the girls will be speaking to the importance of individuality in addition to the partnership.
Penney has worked with Brooklyn and Bailey for a couple of years, but this year the petite 5-foot-2-inch tall young women have a bigger role helping Penney put together an assortment of merchandise with an emphasis on the Arizona brand, its largest private label with sales of about $1 billion a year.
Brooklyn and Bailey have each created their own Arizona backpack reflecting their individual style filled with a custom-designed Arizona T-shirt and other Penney and Sephora product samples that will be on sale.
Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight are stand-out artists and positive teen role models with a massive digital footprint that reaches over 12M followers daily. Brooklyn & Bailey recently released their new line of mascara Lash Next Door. The completely cruelty-free line of mascara is amazing for creating bold and beautiful eyelashes with both a volumizing and lengthening formula. The first batch of mascara sold out in less than 24 hours, they released a second wave a week later. In 2017, Brooklyn and Bailey announced their entrance into music, their first track, “Dance Like Me,” debuted in March 2017, hitting #11 on the Pop Charts the weekend of its release. The McKnight twins have also released two subsequent singles “Simple Things” and “What We’re Made Of.” The single releases were followed a 16-city tour with DigiTour. The twins were also named Champions of the UN Foundation’s Girl Up Initiative, which advocates for the education, health and, safety of girls across the world.
