In a recent trip in New York, I noticed a St. Ives Pop-Up Shop and walked in to see what was new with this brand. I learned about two new products the cleansing sticks and the sheet mask. I was eager to try them and see how they would help my skin.
St. Ives Sheet Mask
I was thrilled to try the new St. Ives Glowing Apricot Sheet Mask. Sheet masks are relatively harmless, so I knew my sensitive skin wouldn’t mind. I was hoping my skin would be glowing like a fluorescent ray of light delivered directly from the sky above.
I was so excited to try my new mask that I put it on immediately after waking up. Here I am, still in pajamas, before I even cleansed my face.
According to the packaging, you must cleanse your face before applying the mask. I used my cleanser, just as I do every morning. Then, I towel-dried my face and applied the soaked cotton sheet mask to my face.
This sheet mask was tremendous. I don’t have a very large face, but it’s also not small by any means.
Though it looked rather terrifying, the mask did smell delicious, like fresh, juicy apricots. Yum!
The mask was meant to be left on for ten minutes, but I kept it on for twenty. There were no major active exfoliating chemicals on the ingredients list, so I knew leaving it on for longer wouldn’t be a detriment to my skin.
When I removed the mask, I was left with a thick layer of serum on my skin. I did massage it into my skin, just as the directions had recommended. I dabbed my skin with a towel to remove the excess, and then patted my skin until it dry.
St. Ives Cleansing Stick
St. Ives Cleansing Sticks come in three options, but all are made with 100% natural coconut oil. They just released the Rose Water and Bamboo Cleansing Stick. I was a bit surprised to hear that coconut oil was in all the cleansers because that’s usually something I avoid putting on my skin. I was always under the impression that coconut oil was great for my body, but not for my acne prone face. However, curiosity always gets the best of me when it comes to skincare and I was compelled to try them all and see if they were worth keeping.
What makes these cleansers a bit different is that they are in stick form — like big fat lip balms! Which I actually like because you can toss one in your gym bag and never worry about a mess. I can also keep it near the bathtub without worrying that my toddler will squirt it all over the floor, and it stays secure in it’s study packaging and screw top cap. PS, they are also bacteria resistant which is a huge plus since I know people freak if they have to double dip into a product more than once.
All you do is just wet your face, rub the stick all over, and lather it up with your hands! I personally found that rubbing them into my eye brows helped get the lather going and getting a bit more cleanser on my face. I think all three versions lathered up and rinsed well and they all left my skin feeling great. I didn’t have any trouble getting my makeup off.
All three versions offer a different benefit based on their formula:
Cactus Water & Hibiscus hydrates and softens.
Matcha Green Tea & Ginger detoxifies and refreshes.
Apricot & Manuka Honey removes impurities and helps your skin get a healthy glow.
