I was super excited when Columbia Sportswear reached out to me about reviewing their new gear. Columbia is focused on fast and light hiking as well as sun protection gear to keep you outside longer.
One of my greatest pleasures since moving to Louisiana is being able to take long walks. The summer starts early and ends late is an understatement. Louisiana feels like it has little room for Spring or Fall, jumping straight to daily temps of 90+ degrees as early as May and lasting through September. That was why I was so excited to review some of their collection to fit my activities.
Outdry Extreme Nanolite Shell
When it gets hot, that means afternoon storms. The Outdry Extreme Nanolite Shell is an ultra-light jacket designed for speed on the trail and maximum protection from the elements. The ODX Nanolite shell features the most advanced waterproof breathable technology and is light enough to pack into a pocket.
Columbia’s shiny OutDry extreme technology, an inside-out membrane that promises a high level of consistent weather protection and improved durability over conventional shells. OutDry Extreme jackets will never wet out, so rain will always just continue to bead up and roll right off the shiny, plasticky surface. In turn, this allows for more consistent performance in terms of breathability. It carries on by moving moisture vapor through the jacket, whatever the weather. An internal wicking liner also aids next-to-skin comfort by pulling moisture away from the body. This jacket is perfect for you to take when traveling.

Columbia Escape Summit Outdry
Columbia’s Escape Summit OutDry is the way to go if you are looking for a lightweight alternative to a heavy hiking boot. This shoe is designed to offer the ideal combination of speedy yet stable performance. It provides support through the mid-foot, some 3D-printed overlays for low-reinforcement, and a Techlite+ midsole for ultra responsive wear. This shoe is waterproof and will keep your feet safe and dry. It also adds stability and ankle protection you get from a high-top. It truly felt like I had nothing on while I did my running.
Summerdry Cargo Shorts
You will be ready for an adventure with the Summerdry cargo shorts. It has a built-in water and stain repellency and UPF 50 sun protection make it perfect for outdoor adventures. I love that these shorts have an integrated belt and elastic at the waist. It has great pockets for your keys and phone. I also love that it is colorful which makes you ready for the summer.
Trailstorm Waterproof
The Columbia Women’s Trailstorm Waterproof Walking Shoe is an excellent all-around shoe. It exceeds expectations when keeping feet warm, dry, and protected in bad weather. The sole provides good traction on smooth ground. These shoes were great when I was doing tons of yard work, it also was perfect after we had tons of rain and the ground was muddy.
They provide excellent grip, waterproof protection, and a safe and comfortable fit. The rubber outsole has thick, arrow-shaped lugs that are multidirectional and designed to provide traction when climbing and descending. I do love the aesthetics of Trailstorm. It is stylish enough to be used with general-purpose jeans, in fact, because it is so comfortable and supportive, I have been wearing it for daily use.
Columbia Sportswear has everything you need to enjoy the outdoors.
