On November 6, 2014, I was invited to attend a special viewing of Big Hero 6 Battle of the Bay. I also got to see a presentation by John Vignocchi, Disney Infinity, VP of Production and Andy Koehler, GameMill Entertainment VP of Licensing & Business Development. They gave us a sneak peak at the Big Hero 6 video game.
This is a wonderful movie for the whole family and one that you can enjoy during the holidays.
It is about a boy and his robot that go on an adventure. Hiro and Baymax do use technology to eat the bad guys it’s the reason behind why they do that makes this movie move along, not just about the fact that they are trying to save the world.
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but Hiro is taken to a very sad place after the loss of his brother Tadashi. Due to this Hiro connects with Baymax, a personal healthcare companion who seeks to help heal Hiro. You have to understand the emotional pain that Hiro is in. Baymax finds it harder to help Hiro feel better with far reaching consequences.
In order to help them on their mission of healing, they recruit adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. This introduces us to the Big Hero 6 team. These young modern day superheros was not so super at first. It took time for them to adjust to their new position and abilities. However, they do adjust and become amazing using their techie ability.
This movie has characters that you can relate to and the team has both guys and gals who are brilliant in the technology field and support each other. Which is a great lesson for kids to learn. As the team’s bond they really become ahndy as they battle the bad guy to save San Fransokoyo, a city that’s lovely blend of both western and Japanese culture.
I will not spoil the surprise for you but you will like the ending. All I can say is that you will enjoy it.
Disclaimer: I was invited to this special screening of the movie and received a copy of the Big Hero 6 game; however, all opinions expressed here are my own.
