Spin Master was absolutely amazing at Toy Fair this year. The Fuggler was one of the toys that I knew would be a hit during the holiday season.
If regular stuffed animals are simply too tame for your family’s taste, then there’s a new creature in town you’re sure to love. Well, assuming they don’t completely creep you out. The Fuggler dolls are ugly-cute stuffed animals available for adoption now. Bring a few of them into your family home if you dare, or give them as gifts to all your weirdest friends and relatives.
There are even rare characters available with glow-in-the dark teeth and eyes for a little extra creepy factor. You can have whole shelves of these things in your home just to make guests a bit less comfortable.
There are more than 50 unique Fuggler characters to collect, available in 9 or 12-inch sizes. Rare characters can be discovered by checking for glow-in-the dark teeth and eyes. Fugglers are available now at Target, GameStop and Hot Topic as well as additional specialty retailers for a target MSRP of $14.99 USD to $24.99 USD.
And you don’t buy them, you adopt them. When you get a Fuggler there’s an “adoption process” along with a certificate.
The name comes from the “funny-ugly monsters”. They are quirky, crazy, fun. Fugglers were originally created by a U.K. artists Mrs. McGettrick. There was some chatter in the U.K., (Get it? Teeth. Chatter?) where these originated, that the dolls were made with real human teeth. That’s an urban myth. The original dolls were made from false teeth (dentures) that the artist bought online and then started creating the dolls. The Spin Master Fugglers are made with molded plastic teeth. We promise you, grandpa is not missing his uppers so kids can have these creepy/wonderful/whimsical dolls to play with.
Each Fuggler features a button sewn onto their bottoms, and some will have a rare golden button. Plus, each one comes with an adoption certificate with a registration number that you can enter online. (This feature was not available at the time of this review.) Fugglers come in two sizes – medium and large – with different characters available to collect in each size.
