All around the country we are experiencing winter weather. Winter weather is brutal on the skin, drying it out and sometimes leading to itchy, rough patches. The products that we use during the rest of the year are often not enough to combat the nasty effects of the brutal cold, which it makes it necessary to change skin-care regimes.
They are a couple of things you can do at home to help fight the winter skin issues.
- The drier the air, the drier the skin. To maximize the amount of water in the air, it is recommended to place a humidifier in the room where you spend the most time, which, in many cases, is the bedroom. A cool air humidifier increases the moisture level in the air, helping skin’s barrier stay hydrated, she says. In addition, be sure the heat is kept on low or at a moderate temperature to avoid extra dryness in the air.
- A hot bath or shower is a great way to relax during the winter, but you should be careful because it can also eliminate the skin’s natural oils. Opt for warm water and, instead of rubbing your skin with a towel, gently dab it to prevent dehydration and irritation.
They are also great products that we can use to help hydrate our skin:
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster
Ever since I started wearing makeup, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of having a within glow. Neutrogena has answered my prayers, bringing illuminating, hydrating pearls to the drugstore with the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster. Finding a good hyaluronic acid serum is harder than it seems. It’s a delicate balance between stickiness and hydration.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster is all that and then some. It quenches even the driest of skin textures, leaving your skin feeling smoother immediately. Purified hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and olive extract work together in a “liquid crystal gel matrix” to hydrate and replenish the skin, fortifying it’s natural moisture barrier so that the effects last. I love it. It’s part serum, part hydration, and part primer. The pearls are glittering vitamin E capsules, and the booster’s super-smooth finish is paired with the signature fresh, aquatic Hydro Booster scent.
I use one pump of this for my face and one for my neck and décolletage, but even if I go a little over or under, it’s always the perfect amount. You absolutely need this. I have never gone through a serum this quickly before — but I can’t stop using this one. I apply it both day and night.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost City Shield Eye Serum
My eyes give me the most issues during the winter months, they get so dry. Your cornea is sensitive to temperatures. It is a new hydrating eye serum that contains hyaluronic acid that acts to hydrate the delicate area of the eye helping it to retain moisture. This launched a few weeks ago and I had to try it.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost City Shield Eye Serum arrives in a clear pump jar that contains 0.47 oz of product. Although a gel base it surprisingly contains no alcohol nor oil which made me very happy. It seems like all these eye gels always contain alcohol and I was surprised to see this didn’t have any! This is a plus since alcohol is known for drying out skin and ho wants that under their already dry eyes?
I’ve used this as a serum which means I apply it first under my eyes, allow it to set. The texture is a gel that has tiny “multivitamin beads.” The texture is a lightweight and does absorb fairly fast. It has a nice cooling effect. It also contains niacinamide which is a great skin-brightening ingredient. The formula also includes Vitamin E and C as well a peptide and hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid is one of the huge draw-ins with the Hydra Boost Skincare Collection. I am loving the feeling.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask
This is a new Hyaluronic Acid gel sheet mask that promises to provide intense moisture to the skin. Sheet masks are an important role in my skincare routine. I’ve been using them for several years. Neutrogena has introduced these this year. This is a gel mask that contains two pieces. One piece should be applied to the upper portion of your face (eyes) and the second should be applied to your lower face (chin, lips, etc…).
I like this mask. It helps my skin feel more supple & gives it that bounce back feeling too. When you apply it and smooth it out, it’s comfortable enough to walk around and talk without worrying that it’s going to fall off.
I hope these tips and products will help you get through the winter. Remember to also hydrate by drinking tons of water and Spring is only 52 days away.
