Back to School is officially here, and that means the kids having fun at school, learning new things and some extra germs. This also means more germs coming home, and that means and increase in the chance of getting a cold or getting sick. This is why I am so thankful for Lysol in my house. We have granite tops in the kitchen, and it needs to be wiped down the whole time.
Lysol has partnered with the National Education Association (NEA) and the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to launch the Healthy Habits Tour. This unique public health initiatives makes in fun and easy for students to learn how to reduce the spread of illness.
With the Healthy Habits Tour, they are taking health on the road. The Healthy Habits bus will visit schools across the country to promote germ education. Students visit a series of interactive stations, where they learn how thorough hand washing and other healthy habits can keep germs at bay.
Healthy Habits Week is a nationwide educational effort to teach healthy habits to kids. Taking place September 21-25, 2015, they will work hand in hand with teachers and parents to teach children about health and hygiene through fun activities and simple lessons. Healthy Habits Week is supported by rich collection of educational materials created in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Keep these tips in mind
1. Wash those hands: To help reduce germ spread, children should wash their hands after using the toilet, coughing, sneezing, blowing their nose, playing outside, touching or handling class pets, and whenever their hands look dirty. Remind your little ones to use warm, soapy water and to scrub their hands for 20 seconds (about how long it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice)
2. Shake it out: According to the CDC, children and adolescents should participate in 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. Walking, dancing, skipping rope, and playing outside are all great options! To make it more fun, play some music or turn it into a game!
3. Stock Up on Supplies: Help keep your little ones germ free at school by donating Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to their classrooms! Teachers will love that they can banish 99.9% of germs and bacteria on tables, desks, cubbies, and doorknobs, and you’ll love that your little ones’ classrooms are clean and germ-free.
