Tennis Pros John Isner and Sam Querrey– Kick Off the US Open with a “Double Bagel” at a #STGILESOPEN Private Power Breakfast at their Preferred New York City Hotel – The Tuscany, a St Giles Signature Hotel.
St Giles Hotels Group, along with its partner AYS Sports Marketing, joined American tennis pros – John Isner and Sam Querrey – to break bread Friday morning at a private power breakfast for members of the press and tennis influencers to celebrate the US Open and enjoy the end of summer from the wrap-around terraces of the Penthouse Suite at The Tuscany.
As part of its Hotels with Heart Foundation and its recently launched “#CitizenG” initiative, a company-wide mission to drive sustainable practices while supporting the local communities in which it serves, St Giles Hotels partnered with one of New York City’s most beloved seafood spots – Lolo’s Seafood Shack and its co-owner Executive Chef Raymond Mohan – to curate a special power breakfast made with “love” by New York City grown culinary expert, using only local New York City area ingredients. Both VOSS Water and La Colombe Coffee Roasters were contributing sponsors of the event.
“What’s made The Tuscany popular with top athletes is the exceptionally large size of our rooms with high ceilings, most importantly our extra-long beds that can actually fit a 6’10’ tennis pro like John Isner,” said Abigail Tan-Giroud, CEO of St Giles Hotel Group. “As a family-owned business, we strive to ensure our hotels meet the needs of every guest – no matter how tall. And with our commitment to sustainable practices and supporting the local community, we were eager to bring Chef Mohan of Lolo’s to the proverbial table to design and create a localized menu that would pack a powerful protein punch!”
Guests included tennis influencers and members of the press who together shared in breakfast and a Q&A session with the players, all while enjoying the breathtaking 360 degree views of the city from one of Manhattan’s most coveted rooftop, private venues – The Penthouse Suite at The Tuscany, A St Giles Signature Hotel – with the Empire State Building to the southwest and the Chrysler Building to the north.
“The Tuscany has been one of our ‘go to’ hotels in New York City since 2011. Our clients love the convenient location, huge rooms and friendly staff,” said Penny Lerner, CEO, AYS Sports Marketing. “We thoroughly enjoy working with The Tuscany team throughout the year and especially during the US Open.”
Ten-time ATP Men’s Singles Winner Sam Querrey shared, “I really enjoyed the large rooms, great location and friendly staff at The Tuscany last year, and I couldn’t wait to stay here again!”
Since surprising and delighting guests of The Tuscany is a St Giles Hotels promise, two lucky guests staying at the hotel were randomly selected to attend the private breakfast, meet the players, get autographs and enjoy breakfast. A complimentary one-night stay in the Penthouse Suite of The Tuscany was also given away via random drawing.

About The Tuscany, A St Giles Signature Hotel
This “gem of midtown” offers 124 residential-style guest rooms and suites, each carefully designed to offer oversized living areas and spacious baths, not often experienced in New York City dwellings. This “home away from home” property was fully refurbished after a multi-million dollar renovation at the end of 2014 and today features a spacious respite in the heart of the city that never sleeps. The hotel has enjoyed a long-standing history in the heart of historic Midtown, as honored by New York magazine’s ‘the best place to live in New York’ list. It was built in 1927 as apartments and later converted to a hotel in the 1950s. Its unique structure has lent itself to spacious design, granting The Tuscany the city’s largest hotel rooms and suites with standard guestrooms averaging 400 square feet, nearly double the average hotel room in the city. When guests stay at The Tuscany, they enjoy the convenience of a centralized location given its ideal proximity to NYC landmarks, public transportation, tourist destinations, museums, shopping, and restaurants. All St Giles hotels are uniquely positioned in the heart of great cities so that guests can “BE CENTRAL” and feel like a local. The Tuscany is located at 120 E. 39th Street in New York. About Hotels with Heart Foundation and #CitizenG
The Hotels with Heart Foundation was born out of a desire to breathe a deeper soul and meaning into The St Giles Hotels group and its team. With hotels in major cities around the world, we impact the societies and communities around us every day, through the interactions that we have with our neighbours, the guests we greet, the jobs we provide, but also the resources of the city that we use. The Foundation lies at the core of the St Giles culture and values, which poses the question – what can we do to positively impact those less fortunate than us? It seeks to find ways for the brand to become involved in our local communities; to impact causes that matter to our teams and our guests who become our extended family and to give the individual hotels a soul, a face, a heart. St Giles Hotels is constantly looking to give opportunities to those who have a passion for hospitality, to teach them, to foster the hoteliers of the future and to build a stronger internal hotel team. In addition, St Giles Hotels recently launched its “#CitizenG” initiative, which supports the company’s mission and promises to be more “green” by making environmentally friendly decisions across its properties with the goal of eliminating single-use plastic and reducing water and energy use by 2020.
