A few weeks ago I attended a very interesting event hosted by Pfizer. Every mom knows that kids and colds go hand in germ covered hand. From the classroom to playground to the supermarket to play dates, kids are liable to pick up the sniffles nearly anywhere they go.
Take a look at this ultra violet photo that was shown at the event of all the germs in the supermarket. Can you imagine?
The past two weeks have been tough as the cold season took hold of the household. So I am happy to be teaming up with my friends at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare to share my advice to help you get everyone back on their feet.
The first thing is to make sure that everyone drinks a lot of fluids. Whether they are drinking water, electrolyte-replacement beverages or another favorite drink, they need to keep hydrated as possible. If they don’t want to drink, try popsicles, they do count as hydration, and often this sweet, frozen treat is what the kids needs to keep fluids in their system.
The second thing is to relax the limits. While everyone who is sick needs to rest it is also important for them to keep their minds off of how sick they feel. They can get this through playing extra video games or watching tv. I remember when I was sick as a child my mom always let me watch a little extra tv just as a comfort.
Of course the most important part of dealing with colds and the flu and making everyone feel better is to stop those nasty symptoms in their tracks, you need medicine that you can count on.
In my house, we trust the Pfizer Consumer Healthcare products of Children’s Advil, Children’s Robitussin and Children’s Dimetapp, to help tackle the symptoms. They understand what its like to when sick gets real.
Here is a wonderful worksheet that they handed out that can guide you when you want to check out the symptoms, I placed it on my fridge as a guide.
