I got an opportunity to preview Zootopia before it opened on March 4th. It was very entertaining and was a great comedy from the start to the finish.
Judy Hopps is a bunny who knows from an early age that she wants to be a police officer. The only problem is, in the land of Zootopia where predator and prey all get along, bunnies are not police officers, they are far too small. Judy’s parents are not happy about her choice of careers either. They want her to be safe.
Judy refuses to let her size stop her from accomplishing her goals. Judy graduates at the head of her class and heads to the city of Zootopia, a huge city with many different aspects: It is comprised of neighborhoods that celebrate different cultures, Zooptopia is a city like no other. There’s the ritzy Sahara Square for desert animals, Tundratown for the polar bears and moose, the hot and humid Rain Forest District, Little Rodentia for the tiniest mammals and Bunnyburrow for the bunnies. The downtown area, Savanna Central is a melting pot where an array of mammals from every environment come together all day long.
The animation is great, and the scenery is so beautiful. I was just enthralled by it all from the beginning.
The police chief is a huge bull who towers over Judy and learns that regardless of her size, she is a great police officer. they Mayor is the King of the Beasts. All characters we know we have in our own real world, is beautifully represented in Zootopia. Well, then we have the sloths, they are very slow.
Zootopia at the heart is about working together. Judy and Nick, a bunny and a fox. They don’t get along at first but they come to the relationship with ideas about each other and begin a relationship on working together. As the film goes along we see how he learns to use his sly fox ability to help Judy. We also learn that no matter how big a species is, they can learn to get along with the such smaller animals. This is great lesson for our children to learn.
This movie is a 5 star one, and it is one that I will enjoy watching over and over again.
