These days, kids have hand held video games, tablets, and iPods to keep them occupied. The art of play and imagination is being missed by kids. However, one of my favorite childhood toys is back: Colorforms.
2016 marks Colorforms 65th anniversary. Colorforms are vinyl stick on play sets they are in different characters, shapes and other objects. They are safe, creative, open ended and imaginative play an have been trusted by generations.
They come in a box, that includes a flat board with some sort of scene on it. You can stick the vinyl pieces all over the board and come up with different scenarios, because the pieces don’t stick permanently.
They are now being introduced in some of our favorite characters, Avengers, Cars, Doc McStuffins, Frozen, Princesses and Dory are just to name a few.
I took out the Frozen one for us to give it a try and it was a big hit.
She had such a great time, putting all the characters together. We spent an hour moving them around the scenes and enjoying the time together.

Even 20 years ago (when my son was young) I had such trouble finding Colorforms. I loved them back in my 50’s childhood, and I was so happy when I found the “dress for the weather” one, somehow. Now, if they would only bring back Venus Paradise coloring sets.
