I recently received two of Random House’s new picture books, and I loved them. I think you will love them also so I wanted to share my review with you.
123 Dream
What do letters, number and animals have in common, well they are all in this book.
This book includes woodland, jungle, and seashore inhabitants are the focus of this watercolor collection. The realistic, print like illustrations depict numbers from one through 10along with animals or plants of the appropriate number and whose name begin with the same letter or letters. one is owl followed by two turtles ten three thistles and so on. There is no text beyond the large numbers, one per double page spread; the book want to encourage a conversation between parents and children. Young readers will enjoy identifying the animals themselves after they understand the pattern. This book introduces numbers and words in a manner that is defined and appealing.
Imagine a City
Imagine a city where buses are fish, where suit-wearing bears ride bicycles and where lions read books. Imagine a city, where paintings pop from their frames. The author has captured such a city and more in this book. The story takes readers on a train to a magical world of wonder and asks the reader to explore.
Black and white, cross hatched illustrations are great. I love that this book event features dinosaur skeletons giving us a look into the past. This books shows children how the past, present and future are all connected in a way that they could not imagine. The book is a wonder to behold.
