Since I started cooking on my own, I have continued to cook rice the traditional way. I do this because that is how my mom did it and I have long been against using a rice cooker. I just felt it could not do it as well as my mom’s way. However, has things have gotten busier I have been looking for a rice cooker that fits my lifestyle. I then got a chance to review the IMUSA Rice Cooker.
Prior to having seen this rice cooker, I had never heard of Imusa before. They make a big range of cookware and appliances. The company logo is on the front of the machine and the entire unit is a white shell. The lid is very tight fitting. The handles are made out of cool touch material, which is a nice addition on this model. There is only one switch on the front which allows you to change from warm to cook modes.
The cooking pot has a nonstick coating. The instructions were easy to follow. I started to try it out with white rice and made 2 cups to be exact. I used the measuring cup and stuck in the recommended amount of water. Having switched on the unit, we came back ten minutes later to the welcomed site of the unit boiling quite well on the counter. Lifting the lid up relieved some of the pressure inside, but it started boiling over again in just two minutes After around 20 minutes it switched to warming role, and I looked to see how it turned out. The rice was cooked and not sticky. The nonstick coating made sure that cleanup was simple.
Having seen how well this product performed I would recommend it to anyone who wants to speed up the time it takes to make rice. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to have this new appliance in my home. Also it takes up very little counter space, which is great for those who have small apartments.
