My mother was always a big fan of St. Jude and the work that they do with children and helping them with all of their needs. I was super excited to participate in the Kmart Shopping Spree for the St. Jude children during the holidays. While most families can celebrate the holidays, these young children and their families are sick and in the hospital and can’t really enjoy the holidays. They are stressed during the holidays because they have to worry about not being at home.
Kmart has been it their mission to partner with St. Jude hospital to provide children with the things they needs and toys that they can open during the holidays. This makes the children not feel left out during the holidays when other’s are opening their presents.
I was lucky enough to attend an event at Kmart where we went shopping for the toys for the St. Jude children. It was great to be in the spirit of the holiday and give back to those in need. We had so much fun picking out the toys and loading them into our carts. It is so hard to spend the holidays sick, when I was younger I was sick during the holidays and it was not fun. So, I love what Kmart is doing.
I also got to meet the great Marlo Thomas who has worked with this project for years, carrying on her father’s tradition and work. It is all about kids.
