YouTube Star Lisa Schwartz Gives Us the Lowdown on Playing Angela

TALKING ANGELA is the most stylish, fashion-forward feline around. With her own dedicated
YouTube channel and devoted Facebook and Twitter followers, Talking Angela has taken the
digital world by storm; cat-apulting into the apps record books with her series of apps including Talking Angela, My Talking Angela and more. This fabulous feline soars to even greater heights each week in Talking Tom and Friends: The Animated Series. http://talkingtomandfriends.com/
Created and produced out of Vienna by Outfit7, Talking Tom and Friends: The Animated Series features an all-star voice cast including Lisa Schwartz (“Party Girl”) as Angela, Golden Globe®-nominee Colin Hanks (“Life In Pieces,” “Fargo”) as Tom, Tom Kenny (“SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Adventure Time With Finn & Jake”) as Hank, James Adomian (“Comedy Bang Bang!,” “Gravity Falls”) as Ben, and Maria Bamford (“Lady Dynamite,” “WordGirl”) as Ginger; with Tom Martin (“The Simpsons,” “WordGirl”) serving as head writer.
Based on the entertainment phenomenon that has achieved over three billion mobile downloads for its suite of apps, and three billion views on YouTube, the animated series chronicles the adventures, hijinks, and inventions of Talking Tom and the gang as they shoot their own reality television show.
Angela celebrates her birthday on February 2nd, and she gave Mark at the Examiner the exclusive preview of her Special Birthday Minisode.
Lisa Schwartz (aka Lisbug on Youtube), who plays Angela on The Animated Series, took time out of her busy day making videos to talk with me about her character and working on Talking Tom and Friends: The Animated Series.
Q: We hear Angela goes shopping for her birthday. What is your favorite thing to do on your birthday?
A: Angela and I both appreciate a good birthday shopping spree. But, she has better taste than I do. Last year, I came home with a pair of overalls, that I pretty much haven’t taken off since.
Q: How old is Angela?
A: In human or kitty years? I’m not good at math.
Q: As a kid, did you ever envision you’d do voice overs?
A: I don’t think I realized that cartoons weren’t real until a few years ago. So, no. But now that I’m doing it, I think this is the greatest job a little kid could ever wish to have.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: A mom, teacher, actor, unicorn, veterinarian, window dresser, Annie, dog owner, and/or the girl who pierces your ears in the mall.
Q: We’ve seen your Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus parodies, which are hilarious. Angela’s also a singer. Who would you like Angela to “cover” in the show?
A: Oh I’d love to see Angela go old school. She’d do a great Marvin Gaye or Beatles cover. Or Madonna! Hold on, let me call the writers!
Q: You have a popular YouTube side-kick Corny (your dog). Do you like cats too?
A: Corny is the best side-kick a girl could ever have! We’d add a cat to the mix, but I’m terribly allergic. So for now, the only cat in my life is a sassy cartoon kitty with a voice oddly similar to mine.
Q: What else are you up to these days?
A: Lots of Postmates, delivered dinners, and bad reality TV. But also, as some may know, I’m very active on my YouTube vlog and post daily dorkiness @youtube.com/lisbug.
Q: Angela’s an Aquarius, and you seem to have a lot of character traits in common as you both are intelligent, energetic and talented; and also have an uncanny ability to network.
A: You sure know how to make a kitty/girl blush.
Q: What’s your sign?
A: I’m actually an Aries. We’re stubborn and weird, with an affinity for singing cats.
