A little girl in a dress and a bow tells readers about picking the perfect dog. The pictures of different breeds of adorable dogs are the first and the last thing readers see in this tribute to canines. The story begins as the young storyteller tells readers that the family is about to get a dog, and it should be perfect. Thus begins the journey. The perfect dog should be big, bigger, biggest, but maybe not too big . This pattern continues through the book, substituting different adjectives and dog breeds to illustrate them: a chow chow, a German shepard, a Saint Bernard, and a Great Dane. The author uses different typefaces and fonts that help the readers grasp the meaning of the adjectives and adds flair. The dogs are the true stars of this book, each with an immediately evident personality, all loveable. The perfect dog turns out to be the one who chooses the storyteller.
This is book is charming and funny.
